FAQs
General Questions
Who will be performing the work on my property?
When you hire McGann Glass, you get Devon McGann. Unlike larger companies that may send out rotating crews or subcontractors, Devon personally oversees and performs the glazing work. You benefit directly from his 18 years of hands-on experience in the San Diego glass industry.
Do you provide free estimates?
Yes. Whether you have a cracked storefront window or a custom residential project, we provide clear, no-obligation quotes. You can reach out by phone or through our website form to get started.
Residential Glass & Glazing
My home windows are “foggy.” Do I need to replace the whole frame?
Not necessarily. Fogging is usually a sign of a failed seal in a dual-pane unit. As a specialist in residential glazing, Devon can often replace just the glass unit (the “IGU”) while keeping your existing frames intact, saving you significant money and construction mess.
What are the benefits of upgrading to Low-E glass in San Diego?
San Diego’s sun can be intense. Low-E (low-emissivity) glass has a microscopic coating that reflects heat. In the summer, it keeps your home cooler; in the winter, it keeps the warmth inside. It also helps prevent your furniture and flooring from fading due to UV exposure.
Commercial Glass & Storefronts
What types of commercial glass services do you offer?
We handle everything from new storefront installations and glass entry doors to interior office partitions and safety glass replacements. With nearly two decades of experience, Devon is well-versed in San Diego’s commercial building codes and safety requirements.
How quickly can you secure a broken storefront?
We understand that a broken window is a security risk for your business. We prioritize commercial repairs to ensure your inventory and property are secured as quickly as possible.
Are there different safety standards for commercial glass?
Yes. Commercial properties often require tempered or laminated safety glass, especially in high-traffic areas, near doors, or in “hazard” zones defined by code. Devon will ensure your business stays compliant with all local safety regulations.
The McGann Advantage
How does 18 years of experience benefit me?
Glazing is a trade of precision. Over 18 years, Devon has worked with every type of San Diego architecture—from coastal homes facing salt-air corrosion to modern downtown commercial spaces. This experience means he can anticipate structural challenges and ensure a perfect, leak-proof seal the first time.
Is McGann Glass licensed and insured?
Yes. We are fully licensed and insured for both residential and commercial work across San Diego County. We believe in providing “peace of mind” glazing, where the safety of your property is our top priority.
